Feeling the heat this Summer?  There’s no better time to head out to the City by the Bay ~ of which Mark Twain once quipped “The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.”

With it’s natural air conditioning thanks to the fog that billows in over the Golden Gate, San Francisco is cool in more ways than just the temperature.  Gorgeous hotels, an intense foodie culture, and remarkable architecture everywhere you look are just a few things you’ll experience just walking around a few of SF’s storied neighborhoods.

Events slated for this Summer include The SF Silent Film Festival, the SF Chefs. Food. Wine in Union Square, and the SF Symphony in the park.   If you just want to see some highlights – head to The Ferry Building (shown above) and enjoy a lovely lunch there; then walk along the waterfront up to the Golden Gate Bridge (this should take you most of the afternoon).  Then take a taxi to Coit Tower to take in the view.  Walk down to China town; North Beach;  and be sure to take in a stroll through Golden Gate Park.   Here are a few looks at San Francisco:

With it’s vivid pattern set against basic black, we can’t help but think our new colorway Jet Set pairs perfectly with this sophisticated city.

Want to win a bit of Jet Set for your own?  We’re giving away a Gadget Pak (a $31 value) to one lucky winner who comments below.  Just comment and you’re automatically entered to win ~ we’ll announce the winner on Friday July 13th so be sure to check back!

With July 4th this week we couldn’t help thinking of the remarkable Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Illinois.   The oldest outdoor music festival in the United States, artists slated to perform this month include The Chicago Symphony, Santana, The Emerson String Quartet, Midori, and Seal.  The schedule of events run through September so hop on a train, plane or in the car and get there.  Listen to wonderful music, enjoy a fabulous picnic (what better thing than 4th of July at The Ravinia?) and relax.  Take a stroll through the festival’s Flickr stream and you’ll get in the mood immediately. Here are some of our favorite shots from last week’s events:

While cinda b has no affiliation with the Ravinia Festival – Cinda Boomershine was certainly inspired by it.  Ravinia Ivory is one of our most popular colorways – with it’s brightly intertwined colors and harmonic pattern, we think it evokes the sophistication, fun, and warmth of the Ravinia Festival itself.

Want a little bit of Ravinia Ivory to carry around with you on your daily journey?  We’re giving away a cute set of Pencil & Brush Bag and a Sunglasses Case in the Ravinia Ivory colorway (a $40 value).  Just comment below and we’ll pick a winner on Friday July 6th (so be sure to check back).

Here in the US we have our Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C., and our Rose Parade on New Year’s day, but have you ever heard of The Infiorata?  They are a series of flower art festivals held in Italy every May and June in many towns throughout the country (so plan for next Spring).  At these Infioratas, flower petals are used to create mosaics and tapestries that cover streets, plazas and sidewalks. In some towns, such as Genzano di Roma, a masked parade dressed in medieval and traditional clothes walks on them.  Each year, a different theme is created, usually religious, but always a riot of color.

To create these floral displays, a design is drawn in chalk on the ground – soil is placed around the design and then thousands of flower petals and seeds create the images – the petals are kept moist to keep their color.  Depending on the size it takes several days to complete each work.  Some of the most notable Infiorata’s are held in Brugnato, Bolsena, Genzano di Roma, Orvieto and Spello.  Here’s a look at a few designs from past years:

We love the beautiful colors and couldn’t help but be reminded of our colorway, Bella Fiore Raspberry (which means beautiful flower in Italian).  While the actual colorway was inspired by vintage wallpaper, we think an Infiorata display in this pattern would be just gorgeous!  Want to win a bit of floral inspiration for your own?

**We’re giving away one Hanging Cosmetic Bag in Bella Fiore Raspberry (valued at $56) Just comment below and you’ll be entered to win – we’ll pick one commenter at random and post the winner here on Friday, so check back to see if you’ve won!**

One of our favorite locations in the world is Belize – a neighbor of Mexico and Guatemala, this tiny country sits on the Caribbean Sea looking out towards Cuba and Jamaica.  The country has the lowest population of all Central American countries, and as a result one of the richest natural environments in the world.  From dramatic diving spots to traversing the path of ancient Mayans through lush jungles, Belize offers a relaxing, romantic and exciting experience to all who travel here.  And one added plus for Americans – the official language is English!

The superb colorway, Belize Brown, was inspired by the lush trees of Belize jungles.  Matched with speckles of green, orange, red and blue, it reminds of a gorgeous sunset over tranquil waters.

The brown also reminds of the rich ceilings and paneled interiors of one of Cinda Boomershine’s favorite spots in country, Victoria House on Ambergris Caye.  This wonderful resort offers fabulous diving packages, deep sea fishing, and many other adventures.  We think a massage and a margarita look just great too.  Here’s a look at the Victoria House:

Here are just a few of local activities – cave tubing, cave canoeing, diving and exploring the Blue Hole:

I LOVE Belize Brown! I carried the hobo and a tote in this pattern on a recent ytrip to Marco Island F lorida. The bags garnered several compliments at the airport and on the beach. My swimsuit happens to be in the brown tones so I felt stylish. I have to share one story. I forgot to pack a clutch purse and we were going out for dinner several evenings with my husband’s work group. I had an “ahh haa” moment! I packed three Cinda B medium/large cosmetic bags in three different patterns. I emptied them and ended up having three clutches that matched all outfits! The Seraphina Yellow was a huge hit with one outfit. Yay!!

Just saying the name, St Tropez, captivates.  Probably one of the most storied villages on the globe, the town itself is actually rather small.  Its famous harbor was once filled with fishing boats and the gentle light inspired artists such as Paul Signac, Matisse, and David Hockney and fashion designers like Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli.

Cinda Boomershine credits St Tropez as the inspiration for her popular new colorway Scala Ivory.

“On a recent trip to France, I [tried to capture the essence of that magical place in Scala Ivory]. Everywhere I looked, I saw inspiration for the colors. The soft pinks of the summer flowers, the warm whitewashed buildings, the chic locals with sun kissed skin clad in breezy ivory linen all lead me to a soft pallet of blush tones and ivory. The weathered drift woods and cobble stone streets inspired the perfect mushroom grey accent. As St. Tropez is a village by the sea, a fresh take on a “fishscale” pattern seemed natural. The result is a neutral pattern that is both feminine and sophisticated.”

Cinda’s favorite place to stay in St Tropez, Pastis Hotel conjures the colors of Scala Ivory with its grey shutters against an ivory stucco – even the carefully groomed boxwoods seem to echo the elegant scalloped pattern of the colorway.

Want a little slice of St Tropez to take with you anywhere?  We’re giving away a Curling/Flat Iron Cover and a Coin & Camera Bag set ($44 value) to one lucky winner who comments below.  Just comment and you’re automatically entered to win ~ we’ll announce the winner on Friday June 15th so be sure to check back!

With 350 days of sunshine a year, and 100′s of pools and spas to dip into, Palm Springs is the birthplace of playful warm weather glamor.

There are many pools to choose from, but none so fine as at the Riviera Hotel.  Harkening back to the Rat Pack, The Riviera Palm Springs is both retro and hip.  Revitalized in 2008, this spot offers 24 acres of pools, dining and spa.   Decorated in pops of red accented with pink, it offers loads of inspiration.  Can’t you just imagine Marilyn Monroe lounging next to the pool on a hot afternoon?

While the Riviera offers a gorgeous spa, you also might like to try out the Two Bunch Palms Spa and their famous Watsu Water Massage – a blend of massage, joint mobilization, shiatsu, muscle stretching and dance – it’s said to be one of the most transformation spa experiences in the world.  Other ideas to check into are the Ace Hotel and their alcohol laced snow cones, Melvyn’s at The Ingleside Inn, and try out a game of Golf Cart Polo.

The playful retro vibe of Palm Springs reminds us so much of our colorway Roundabout Red.  A base of vibrant lipstick red is matched with fuchsia pink piping and a retro inspired pattern of overlapping circles that range in hue from soft pink to burgundy, with happy bubbles of purple added for contrast.  The perfect ensemble for a Palm Springs weekend would surely include a retro red swim suit and a Roundabout Red Resorter for all the spa and pool hopping.

Want to add a little Palm Springs inspired glam to your wardrobe?  We’re giving away a fun set of a Medium Cosmetic Bag and a Happy Bag in Roundabout Red, pictured below (valued at $40 for the set). **Just comment below and we’ll pick a winner Friday and post it right here!**
